Chess is on the move! And Pawn Wise is back on board!

After a tough two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chess Nova Scotia is excited to announce that Pawn Wise 2022: The Atlantic All-Ages Chess Festival takes place this summer, July 29 – August 2, at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax. The Organizing Committee has re-dedicated itself to ensuring that Pawn Wise will be a unique all-ages experience for chess players and visitors to Halifax alike. As planned for 2020, we aim to put Nova Scotia on the map as a place for major chess events, not only in 2022 but in the years to come.

Pawn Wise 2022 will focus on bringing chess players from all across Canada to the Canadian Senior Chess Championships and the inaugural Nova Scotia Mayflower Open. International guests — like GM Eduardo Rozentalis from Lithuania and others — are registered to play. Jack de la Torre, from the University of Texas, a chess expert and leading authority on Alzheimer’s disease, will be the keynote speaker.

For event details, see the Chess Nova Scotia website here. The website will be updated as more details become available.

We thank all our visitors for their patience as, together, we put ourselves in position to once again make our move.
