Nova Scotians win gold and bronze at Canadian Military Chess Championship

Local player Samuel Heran-Boily scored an impressive 5.5/6 to take gold at the 12th Canadian Military Chess Championship. Chris Felix won bronze after tie-breaks with a score of 4.5/6. Chess Nova Scotia congratulates both!

The annual championship consists of Canadian Armed Forces members and civilians working for the Department of National Defence. Thirty one players competed this year in the main event, which took place at Garrison Saint-Jean in Quebec.

The top six players qualify to represent Canada at the NATO Chess Championships, which will be held in Belgium this year in October.
