Catch the Wave is a fundraiser tournament for an event that will take place this summer: Pawn Wise: The Atlantic All-Ages Chess Festival.
Catch the Wave takes place Saturday, March 21st at Mount Saint Vincent University, McCain Centre, room #302, 12:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. With Catch the Wave, Chess Nova Scotia aims to promote Pawn Wise, encourage player-participation in it, and recruit volunteers to help make it a success.
Catch the Wave will be held on the same day and in the same location of the Chess Nova Scoita Annual General Meeing (AGM) 2020, which will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

- Non-rated, G-25 time controls. Swiss format, 5 rounds.
- Entry fee $10.
- No prizes. All proceeds will go to support Pawn Wise: The Atlantic All-Ages Chess Festival, 2020.
- Medals will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
12:15 pm. to 12:45 p.m. — Tournament registration
12:45 p.m. to 1 p.m. Address to the group: updates re Pawn Wise, event sponsorship, and a call-out for volunteers
Round 5: 5 p.m.
Note: although the event will not be rated, for pairing purposes only the TD will use a player’s regular CFC rating if one exists.
Also: although there will be no cash prizes, medals will be awarded for first, second, and third place. If there are no clear winners for these categories, the winners will be decided by a blitz playoff.
