I am pleased to share that Adam Dorrance. our friend and well known Nova Scotian master, has just won his first IM norm while competing at the Open Chess Menorca event.
Adam beat an International Grandmaster for the first time in round 2, GM Edgar Mamedov. He also beat GM Luis Galego in round 5. With 3 wins and 4 draws in 9 rounds for a total of 5 points out of 9, Adam achieved his first International Master (IM) norm.
Now he just needs two more norms and to achieve an official rating of 2400 (FIDE) to obtain the International Master title!
We’re rooting for you!
