f the instructions below. \n\n\n\nSee the CHESS NOVA SCOTIA TOURNAMENT HEA
LTH PROTOCOL\, HERE.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*** All registered players MUST check
in at the reg desk well in advance of — ONE HOUR BEFORE — the start of the
first round in order to be paired for the first round. This is so that Ke
n knows they are on site and able to play and that he has time to do the p
airings and start the first round on time\, for everyone’s benefit. Please
follow the rules. \nNote: If you expect to be late on the Friday of the t
ournament\, then between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. you MUST contact Ken by email (
skcashin@outlook.com) or cell phone or text (902 478-2359) to let him know
. In this case\, you must show up on site by 5:30 p.m. in order to be pair
ed.\nAlso\, if you determine that you cannot play in the tournament after
all\, you must let Ken know. Likewise\, if you have to drop out midway thr
ough\, you must let Ken know.\n\nDate of tournament: June 12-14\, 2026\n\n
 \n\nLocation: Mount Saint Vincent University\, 166 Bedford Highway\, Halif

 \n\nRd 1: Friday\, June 12th\, 6 p.m.\n\n\n\nRd 2: Saturday\, June 13th\,
 10 a.m.\n\n\n\nRd 3: Saturday\, June 13th\, 4:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nRd 4: Sunday\
 , June 14th\, 9 a.m.\n\n\n\nRd 5: Sunday\, June 14th\, 3:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nNo
te that the reason the games start a little earlier on Sunday is to give o
ut-of-town participants more daylight time to travel home after the tourna
ment.\n\n\n\nPrizes: Cash prizes will be awarded\, based on the number of
entrants. The tournament winner’s name will be engraved on the Nova Scotia
Open trophy. We only put one name on the trophy\, so in the case of a tie
for first\, the winner (for the purposes of the trophy) will be determine
 d by tie break.\n\n\n\nTime control: 40/105 + G/30 + 30 sec increment from
start.Note: If there are two sections\, the lower rated one will have the
simpler time control of Game in 2 hours\, with 30-second increments from
the start (same time control as the Bluenose Open 2026).\n\n\n\nTournament
Entry Fee:\n\n\n\nAdults (age 18 and over): $50\n\n\n\nSeniors (age 65 an

ve rounds unless they have declared byes beforehand\, as indicated above.
Unless they have declared a bye for a particular round\, players who do no
t show up for a game will be forfeited for that game\, i.e.\, they will ea
rn a score of zero for the game and their opponent will earn a score of on
e point for the game. Players who do not show up for their games will be a
utomatically withdrawn from the tournament. \n\n\n\nAlso\, a player is exp
ected to show up on time for the start of the round\, as a courtesy to the
ir opponent. If a player does not show up within an hour after a game star
ts\, the player will be forfeited for that round\, i.e.\, they will earn a
score of zero for the game and their opponent will earn a score of one po
int for the game.\n\n\nForced byes: In rounds where there is an uneven num
ber of players\, a full-point\, forced bye will be given to one player\, a
