Langmat & Associates, an Ottawa-based logistics firm, has donated $10,000 to Chess Nova Scotia. The sponsorship is a significant boost for Pawn Wise: The Atlantic All-Ages Chess Festival, scheduled for this summer. The logistics management firm will be recognized as the title sponsor for the Festival’s flagship event, The Canadian Seniors Chess Championship.

“As a logistics company, we manage customs and global transportation for a handful of elite customers, primarily in the automotive industry,” explains Trudy Matthews, president of Langmat. “We have connections to chess and understand well how its skills for analysis and decision-making link with ours.”

“We are also fond of Nova Scotia,” she adds. “We maintained a regional office in Musquodoboit Harbour for many years.”

The generous sponsorship brings contributions to Pawn Wise to date to just under $30,000.00. It is hoped Nova Scotia entrepreneurs will join the campaign to bring chess to all citizens of Nova Scotia, of all ages.

Meanwhile, Chess Nova Scotia thanks Langmat & Associates for its very generous support.
